      Update 9:33 a.m. March 24, 2020

Our top-level priority continues to be the health, safety and wellness of our students and employees.

      • Please view the latest update from Campus Housing for further gudiance reguarding residence halls. Guests and visitors are not allowed in on-campus residence halls and apartments until further notice.
      • NMSU is restricting access to facilities to anyone who is not a student or employee. Corbett Center will remain open to allow students access to the Dining Hall, but the hours will be reduced. The U.S. Post Office will remain open.
      • As many employees as possible should be working from home effective immediately.  Anyone who needs help with this process (expectations, work assignments, equipment, etc.) should speak with their immediate supervisor.
      • In coordination with deans, department heads, researchers and staff, cleaning crews will begin sanitizing entire buildings. When a crew arrives at a building, please work with them and follow directives for leaving the space while work takes place.
      • Jobs are not being eliminated and all will continue to be paid as long as people are working.

Beginning March 30, the university will move to an online delivery model for nearly all classes. While exceptions might be made for labs that require students to be present, every precaution will be taken to reduce the risk of virus transmission.

This is a dynamic and constantly changing situation. We maintain constant communication with government and educational partners. The very latest information we have is at http://www.jzqylm.com/coronavirus/ and questions will be posted on the FAQ page. We will continue to be in contact as needed.

At this time, the NMSU is directing employees and students to cancel or postpone any university-related non-essential out-of-state domestic travel. Check back regularly for updates and visit the Travel Information for NMSU Faculty, Staff, and Students page for more information. If you do plan to travel internationally, or if you have traveled in the last 14 days, please complete the  travel questionnaire. All international employees and students traveling under these circumstances should be following NMSU’s Administrative Rules and Procedures.
Symptoms are similar to the flu virus (fever, cough, shortness of breath) and can cause lower respiratory tract illnesses such as pneumonia or bronchitis. The Aggie Health & Wellness Center is working directly with the NMDOH following guidelines from the CDC for any suspected cases of illness that meet the risk assessment for COVID-19.

      This assessment includes:

      • Has the person being evaluated traveled from China, Iran, South Korea, Italy, or Japan
      • Did the person have any contact with laboratory-confirmed case of COVID-19

      If you feel sick:

      • Stay home. Except for seeking medical care, avoid contact with others and do not travel.
      • Call your local health care provider or Aggie Health and Wellness Center (AHWC) 575-646-1512 to avoid exposing others. The New Mexico Department of Health has established a COVID-19 hotline at 1-855-600-3453.

Wash your hands—20 seconds with soap and water many times a day.

Cover your cough—Catch that cough and those sneezes in Kleenex and discard.

Avoid the public—For milder cases, you may be your own best nurse! Stay home, chill, Dayquil, Nyquil, rest and fluids.

Visit the Aggie Health and Wellness prevention page for more information.
